Congratulations to the winners of the 2021/2022 Student Contest. PST would like to thank the students and teachers from across the State of Tennessee who participated this year! We are truly blessed to have so many fine student poets!
January 2021
Join us February 12, 2022 at 1 pm CST via Zoom for our annual panel critiquing meeting! Members, please submit a work in progress to Lori Goetz (poetrytennessee@gmail.com). This deadline was extended to February 2. But I must have the poems by 5 pm central time. Please email them ASAP!
The 3-member critiquing panel will review poems and provide feedback. Attend via Zoom to learn A LOT about critiquing poems, as well as your own. Contact us for a link!

NFSPS has posted its annual contest information. Click here for a link to the NFSPS contest webpage. Note that NFSPS contests are due (postmarked by) 3/15/22. Many of these contests are "members only" -- which mean they require membership in a state society to enter. If you are not a member, please join us today -- see our Membership Page.
Virtual Festival Announcement #2
Our Virtual Festival was held on October 9. Many thanks to our workshop leader, Jeff Hardin, Professor of English at Columbia State Community College in Columbia, TN, who presented on apostrophe/address poems. A very sincere thank you as well to our fearless Festival Coordinator, Howard Carman, Jr. We had over 40 register to participate, and over 30 attend Jeff's Workshop and the subsequent announcement of Contest Winners! Please see our Festival Contest page for the winners of our 65th Annual Festival Contest.
Virtual Festival Announcement
The Poetry Society of Tennessee's 65th Annual Festival will be held by Zoom teleconference on Saturday, October 9, beginning at 1:00 pm Central Daylight Time (2:00 pm EDT). Attendance will be free of charge again this year, but registration will be required. Please spread the word! Jeff Hardin of Columbia State Community College will be our workshop leader, speaking on apostrophe/address poems.

The 65th Annual Poetry Festival Contest Brochure is now available! Click here for a full PDF brochure. The contest is open to both members and non-members. Please see contest rules and specific contests for specific eligibility requirements. The contest deadline is (postmarked by) August 6, 2021. For more information, please see our Annual Festival and Contest Page.
PST invites anyone who wants to be a patron of the society to submit a donation; we will honor all patrons in our Anthology, Tennessee Voices, as well as at our annual Festival in October. Individuals or businesses can be patrons; we offer multiple levels of patronage. Click here for a PST Patron Donation Form (pdf file) or PST Patron Donation Form (word version).

Janet Qually has announced the winner the March Tennessee Resident Contest. Congratulations to Wesley Sims, member of the Knoxville Chapter, for his poem, “Shadowbox of Night.” Wesley’s poem will be included in our anthology, Tennessee Voices.

During PST-West Tennessee's meeting on 1/2, we had a presentation about common errors encountered when submitting to contests -- including our monthly contests, our annual Festival Contests, and even NFSPS' annual National Contests. For a copy of the presentation, click here. Please note that problems with your submission can result in your disqualification...so please be very careful when preparing your poems for any contest!!!
