PST creates opportunities for poets to connect across the state and beyond and within local poetry communities while helping poets develop skills:

• PST's member meetings, generally held monthly, feature programs, prompt-writing, and other workshops; celebrations; and poetry shares. With limited exceptions, PST makes monthly meeting replays available exclusively to members.
• PST sponsors several PST critique, study and poetry share groups which meet monthly and sponsors a regional open mic. In addition, the society promotes community workshops, open mic and other events in its newsletter and on social channels.
• PST promotes other poetry-related events and performances on its blog and social channels.
• PST promotes and celebrates its members' accomplishments.
